Cartersville, Georgia: Meet Local Neo-Nazi Activist Michael David Weaver

Michael David Weaver (also known as Michael David Carothers) is a violent neo-Nazi who has been active since he was a teenager. Currently, he lives in Cartersville and is engaging in a campaign to spread hate in Georgia. Since late last year, Weaver has distributed copious amounts of antisemitic propaganda, mainly for the antisemitic Goyim Defense League but also for other white supremacist groups. Weaver also holds one-man demonstrations with antisemitic signs outside the Bartow County Courthouse. Weaver has a long history of ideologically driven harassment and violence, including an assault on a Black man in Columbus, Georgia for which Weaver served a one-year sentence. Continue reading for more info on Weaver and actions which community members can take.

Anti-Vaccine Conference in Metro Atlanta Promotes Far-right and Antisemitic Poison

Update 6/3/2022: The far-right anti-vaccine conference is now taking place at the DoubleTree in Roswell, Georgia. Please contact the hotel directly as well as the company that manages it, Hospitality Ventures Management Group, with your concerns.

Update 6/2/2022: Unity North Atlanta has canceled the reservation for Next Steps conference.

Introduction

On Friday and Saturday, June 3-4, “Next Steps,” a major anti-vaccine and COVID-19 denial conference, is scheduled to take place at Unity North Atlanta in Marietta, Georgia. QAnon believer Tiendra “Tia” Severino (née Demian) of Tucker, Georgia organized the conference with support from Timothy John Ray’s “UI Media” network. Tim Ray and at least two other speakers are vocal antisemites. One of these speakers has proclaimed that the “God of the Jews is Satan himself.”

Tiendra Severino of Tucker, Georgia

“UI Media” and the “Next Steps” conference are thoroughly intertwined. The conference will feature a “UI Media Awards” ceremony presented by Tia Severino and Tim Ray. UI Media is the exclusive source for footage of the conference and markets “digital replay[s]” of conference workshops on its website. Conference organizer Tia Severino has hosted her show on UI Media for the past two years. The conference’s “VIP Party” on Saturday night will be held in Canton, Georgia, which happens to be where Tim Ray owns a home.

Timothy John Ray of Canton, Georgia

The “Next Steps” conference features big names from anti-vaccine and COVID-19 denial circles, such as Dr. Christiane Northrup, who played a key role in amplifying coronavirus disinformation in the pandemic’s first year, and COVID/snake venom conspiracy theorist Dr. Bryan Ardis. The conference also reflects the deep antisemitism of Tim Ray and his “UI Media” project. A couple scheduled to speak at the conference’s “VIP Dinner” on Friday argues that a Jewish conspiracy has plotted for centuries to rule the world, currently controls the US government, and aims to enslave all non-Jewish people. Tim Ray finds this theory credible enough to promote the couple and other hardcore antisemites on his UI Media site. In a speech to an anti-mask/anti-vaccine rally in Atlanta last year, Tim Ray made thinly coded references to conspiracy theories of Jewish power, blaming “international Sabbatian cabalists” for the COVID-19 pandemic.

As well as spreading medical falsehoods and stirring up hatred against Jewish people, the Next Steps conference has ties to other far-Right organizers in Georgia and nationally. We document these ties throughout this piece. Since the conference aims to not only undermine public health measures but to normalize far-right and antisemitic organizing, we believe it deserves a response. We include action items at the end of this article.

Ruining Confederate Memorial Day: A Report-Back from Stone Mountain, April 30th

Originally published on ItsGoingDown.org.

On the morning of April 30th, 2022 a coalition of civil rights organizations, local community civic action groups, leftist groups, street medics, armed security, antifascists, and other autonomous individuals gathered at a gazebo in downtown Stone Mountain, Georgia. They all shared a common goal: to march on and directly confront the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV), a racist organization rallying to celebrate “Confederate Memorial Day” at the “Memorial Lawn” inside nearby Stone Mountain Park.

Video Presentation: How Have Fascists Reacted to the War in Ukraine?

Our first video on Ukraine covered fascists on multiple sides. Now our second video gives a deep dive into fascist reactions to the war.

In terms of content warning: this video reports on Nazi content and contains some Nazi symbolism, but we have not included any material with major slurs. We also reference war crimes and ethnic cleansing but have not included any photographs of dead bodies.

One of our concrete proposals at the end of the presentation is to “Support Ukrainian antifascists, anarchists and anti-authoritarian leftists.” You can support Operation Solidarity and Resistance Committee in Ukraine here.

A .pdf version of the slides from our new presentation is here.

Notes on Martin Kenneth O’Toole and White Supremacy, Part One

Introduction

Martin Kenneth O’Toole is an attorney in Marietta, Georgia, and the spokesman for the state division of Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) since 2017. Years before his spokesman position, O’Toole commanded Lt. Gen. Leonidas Polk SCV Camp #1446 in Smyrna and served as judge advocate general for the Georgia division.

Since 2011, O’Toole has helped lead the Charles Martel Society (CMS), a secretive but influential racist group which helped to birth the Alt-Right. O’Toole’s close associate, Samuel Glasgow Dickson, has been a CMS director from the start. Since 2015, CMS lists O’Toole as its President and Chairman. O’Toole is also a Holocaust denier with strong historical connections to both neo-Nazis and klansmen. Much of this history has gone undiscussed until the publication of this article.

This is the first installment of a two-part series on O’Toole’s racist and antisemitic organizing. As this documentation indicates, O’Toole has been active in the racist movement for over half a century. We are not attempting a comprehensive biography of O’Toole or full overview of his activities. We highlight some aspects of O’Toole’s racist organizing that have received little public attention; have been forgotten over the decades; or have not been exposed until now. As a public figure who tries to sanitize the Confederacy, the full extent of O’Toole’s racist organizing should be known.

In our first installment, we cover O’Toole’s racist agitation at University of Georgia in the 1970s. We then set out evidence that O’Toole helped produce and distribute neo-Nazi newsletters published by NSDAP/AO, a Hitlerite group. We also discuss O’Toole’s help for Instauration, a racist and antisemitic publication. Finally, we set out O’Toole’s efforts in the Holocaust denial milieu, including hosting Atlanta events for Hitler sympathizer David Irving and operating a Holocaust denial book company with Sam Dickson.

All Out Against the Sons of Confederate Veterans at Stone Mountain Park, April 30th

Update 4/26/2022: The anti-racist coalition organizing the April 30th counter-protest has moved the meeting time forward to 9AM. This post and flyers have been updated to reflect this change.

The neo-Confederate organization, Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV), plans to rally at Stone Mountain Park on Saturday, April 30th. Grassroots anti-racist and community groups will gather in opposition. We encourage everyone to attend the anti-racist counter-protest. The larger the opposition to the SCV, the greater our capacity to demoralize white supremacist and neo-Confederate movements.

Poster released by coalition organizing anti-racist protest.

The meet-up point for anti-racists is: 9AM, Saturday 4/30 at 922 Main Street in the community of Stone Mountain. (Note: this is outside Stone Mountain Park.) Be sure to bring friends, water, snacks, sunscreen, and signs!

Simple poster to print and distribute: .pdf file here.

The planned keynote speaker at the SCV’s event is white nationalist leader Martin K. O’Toole, who is the Georgia SCV’s spokesperson and has been involved in the organized racist movement for half a century. Presently, O’Toole is the President and Chairman of the Charles Martel Society, a secretive but influential white nationalist group which helped to birth the “Alt-Right.”

For more background on O’Toole’s deep involvement in white nationalist and Holocaust-denial circles, see this thread as well as O’Toole’s tag on our website.

Please spread the word about the April 30th mobilization to your friends, community groups, and organizations. See you on the 30th!

Far-Right Musician Alan Kim AKA “Negative XP”/“School Shooter” in Duluth, Georgia

Summary

Alan S. Kim/“Negative XP”/“School Shooter” is the most influential “incelcore” artist and serves as the founder and flagship artist for the movement. Kim headlined the “Virginfest” music festival in Atlanta, GA on September 11, 2021, that saw participants chanting racial slurs and attracted alt-right ur-father Andy Nowicki. Kim is closely connected to white supremacist, Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes and streamed on Fuentes’ “Cozy TV” platform. We previously covered Kim in a Twitter thread, but can now provide further documentation and identification.

Alan S. Kim of Duluth, Georgia, who releases music as “Negative XP”/“School Shooter”

“Incelcore” emerged as a distinct subculture in late 2019 with the release of “MK Ultra Support Group”, a compilation album put together by Negative XP/Kim and featuring other artists. Kim had formerly used the artist name “School Shooter”, or in his spelling, “ϟCHØØL ϟHØØTΣR” (note the use of the stylized Nazi Schutzstaffel lightning bolt runes). The first Negative XP song on the compilation, “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Ruined a Whole Generation of Women”, is emblematic of the entire genre, with the lyrics “She’s a whore, a hole, a dime-a-dozen Jezebel”.

Notably, many of the incelcore artists are not literally incels in the sense of “involuntary celibate”, but use the phrase as internet shorthand for their far-right beliefs and virulent misogyny. The scene is a mix of true believers and ironic edgelords, with the edgelords serving as cover for the true believers to indoctrinate more people to their worldview, which goes beyond simple misogyny into an eliminationist stance that celebrates the mass murder of women.

Besides his lyrics, Alan S. Kim engages in other forms of hateful incitement. Kim has a history of using Nazi symbols. On his Twitter, he encourages cyberbullying of trans people, LGBTQIA+ people, sex workers, all women, and anyone else he views as “degenerate”. While Kim uses his music as a form of metapolitics to influence culture towards far-right politics, he is also directly connected to prominent figures and movements in the far right.

We are including action items at the bottom, with information on how to cancel an incelcore show when they occur in your area, and action items regarding Alan S. Kim.

Lakewood Heights, Atlanta Property Development Assists Pro-Kremlin White Power Leader

Omar Ali, a property developer and Kemp appointee, is helping racist leader Sam Dickson to turn a profit on a building in Lakewood Heights, Atlanta. Ali is currently trying to renovate and sublease the 1701 Jonesboro Road building owned by Dickson’s “Sun Rising LLC”, in effect generating funds for Dickson that will enable further white power organizing.

Omar Ali

Ali claims that he develops properties to revitalize the multiracial, working-class neighborhood of Lakewood Heights, and to provide solutions to disrepair and gang violence in the area. However, Ali’s alliance with racist leader Dickson disproves Ali’s claims to have residents’ interests at heart. Dickson is notorious for preying on Black property owners in Atlanta, often acquiring his properties through predatory tactics known as “bullying title.” Sam Dickson’s white nationalist organizing helped set the stage for the Emanuel AME massacre in Charleston, South Carolina as well as the bloody “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. Dickson has a long history of promoting hatred and white supremacy in the US, and on the international level, he is aligned with the Russian state which is committing probable war crimes in Ukraine.

Sam Dickson at American Renaissance racist conference, 2021

We urge all Lakewood Heights residents to avoid Omar Ali and Ali’s other business interests in the area, particularly the “Ali at Lakewood” development. We will update this article if Ali backs away from his collaboration with Dickson’s “Sun Rising” company.

Meet Tyler Goggins, Also Known as Patriot Front Member “Andrew AL” of Bessemer, Alabama

Christian Tyler Goggins (born 1993) of Bessemer, Alabama is a member of Patriot Front (PF), a white supremacist and fascist organization whose members just keep getting exposed. Goggins goes by the alias “Andrew AL” within the racist group. A trove of PF internal communications that was leaked online in January 2022 clearly identifies Goggins as “Andrew AL”. Goggins participated in PF’s masked national rally in Washington, DC on December 4, 2021 alongside other Alabama members. He also joined PF members in placing propaganda for the organization in Birmingham, Alabama the weekend before that demonstration. Goggins’ online trails connect him to other white supremacist circles such as the neo-Nazi bonehead music scene.

Video Presentation: “War in Ukraine… Where are the Fascists?”

Based on our experiences and reports from international antifascists, we made this video to dispel misinformation around conflict in Ukraine.

Key take-aways:

  • There are fascist adventurers in Ukraine, Russia, and also within US military. US white nationalists take a variety of positions.
  • “Campism” plays into fascist hands. Our analysis must focus on communities on the ground, not on picking a state & cheering for it.
